I have jumped on the seamoss gel again, but this time I’m not making it myself but I bought it from My Healing Kit. Great stuff!
I’m just going to copy and paste a little bit of facts about sea-moss / Irish Moss.
SEA MOSS FACTS:
Sea moss is a seaweed also known as Irish moss. It is an extremely powerful source for minerals and vitamins. It is composed of 92 of the 102 minerals of which the body is made.
Sea Moss contains vitamins and trace minerals, including:
Irish moss has a soothing effect on virtually all the mucous membranes throughout the body. This sweet, salty, mucilaginous herb has a softening effect on tissues and helps many respiratory problems including bronchitis and pneumonia. It is especially effective for pulmonary (lung) conditions, with its ability to absorb liquid and eliminate it from the body. As an expectorant, Irish moss relieves dry coughs, and the high mucilage content alleviates catarrh (inflammation) of the nasal passages and eases sore throat.
Digestion and Thyroid Function:
Irish moss soothes the mucous membranes of the digestive tract, and the high mucilage content helps to ease gastritis, dyspepsia, nausea, heartburn, and indigestion and is also used to prevent vomiting. Irish moss is a mild and effective laxative and soothes inflamed tissues of the intestinal tract, providing help for intestinal disorders. In addition, Irish moss is said to absorb toxins from the bowel and draw radiation poison from the body. Irish moss is rich in iodine, supplying the nutrient throughout the intestinal tract. Iodine is highly important in supporting good thyroid gland health and relieving the many problems associated with poor thyroid function and iodine deficiency (goiter, fatigue, inability to tolerate cold, slow heart rate, low metabolism, poor skin and hair condition, etc.).
Irish moss helps to reduce the appetite by virtue of its ability to absorb moisture, increasing the feeling of “fullness.” The raised metabolic rate caused by improved thyroid function (resulting from Irish moss’s iodine content) helps to increase energy, burn fat, and may be helpful in weight-loss regimens.
Because Irish moss contains blood-thinning properties and is considered an anticoagulant, early research has claimed that Irish moss can reduce high blood pressure and the risk of arteriosclerosis.
Irish moss is wonderful used externally. It softens and soothes the skin and other exposed tissue. It eases sunburn, chapped skin, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes. It counters premature ageing when used topically for smoothing wrinkles.
Irish moss is great for pregnant women. It is highly beneficial in supporting the healthy production of amniotic fluid. After birth, the baby benefits from the nourishment it adds to breast milk.
During pregnancy, iodine (a mineral that supplies the thyroid) requirements sharply increase. Because of the transfer of iodine and the thyroid hormone to the growing baby there is an increase in the maternal needs for the thyroid hormone, and a likely increase in iodine in the mothers urine output. Meaning the mother and baby both need more iodine and the best sources are natural, whole food based sources.
Iodine deficiency during pregnancy may cause complications and being that Sea Moss has ample amounts of Iodine, the consumption of Sea Moss may be of great benefit to pregnant women. Sea Moss, a sea vegetable, grows in a biodiverse aquatic environment ensuring its high concentration of minerals. Incorporating wildcrafted, Sea Moss not only helps provide iodine in pregnant but it also is a good source of Iron.
Many of the prenatal vitamins sold in stores have artificial colors, flavors, and many other unnatural additives that aren’t beneficial to the body and can also give you morning sickness. Why is that? When a pregnant womb-man has morning sickness it is due to the body expelling wastes and toxins that the body does not need to function and can be detrimental to the growing baby.
A whole foods prenatal multivitamin like Sea Moss (a wildcrafted sea vegetable) will not only provide woman with folate (folic acid) necessary for the growth of the baby but it will also provide her with: Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Silica, Boron, Selenium, Chromium, Essential Fatty Acids, Vitamin D and water soluble fibers which are great for bone-building and tissue repairs.
Sea Moss is of great benefit in pregnancy and contains a high concentration of 92/102 minerals.
How do I use it?
I add one big table spoon ONLY, I ‘m trying to stay less greedy and just be 80% full (I’m trying to gain weight but I have removed that thought now and focusing on just being healthy. I’m not gonna wish too much weight because the older you get the harder it gets). We need to delete that greedy mentality. Whatever diet you have or lifestyle, tone it down. Just because you are vegan, you don’t have to OVER eat. So even though I want to add more gel to my smoothies, one big spoon is enough. And one teaspoon when I use it for my face. Leaves the skin so soft.
I got some other bits as well in the package. Some lavender, which I have been advised to add them in the steam and steam the face with the mask on. Palo Santo is never a bad idea, thank you. Love the smell.
